Joseph Lewis Higdon's Obituary
JOSEPH (JO) LEWIS HIGDON 66, of Tucson, Arizona passed away January 15, 2012. Jo, oldest of four, was born to Martha Ella Regan and Joseph Augustine Higdon in Paris, Texas. Jo attended the University of Arizona before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1968 as a Lance Corporal. In 1969, he attended pilot training and graduated with the class of 70-07 before moving on to train in the A-4 Skyhawk. In 1972, he ended his Marine Corp career as a ranking Captain and went on to join the Tucson Police Department in 1973. While there, Jo served on the Major Offenders Unit and in SWAT earning a Medal of Valor as well as the Scarlet Shield. After retiring in 1993, Jo took over the family's antique furniture restoration business, Jo Higdon and Sons, now known as Jo Higdon Antique Restoration. Jo was an avid hunter, fisherman, craftsman and jack of all trades, as well as a beloved husband, father and brother. Jo is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tina J. Mullady, daughters; Tracey, Joelle and Emily and his brothers; Mike, Steve and Tim. A Service will be held 11 AM Friday, January 20, 2012 at Evergreen Mortuary, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary, Friday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, 3601 S. 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85723. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.
