When I was very, very young, my parents and I lived for a short time at that huge house way out on the far west side of Tucson. I loved it there, seeing all of my aunts and uncles get ready for school, etc. I had a lot of fun there.
Sometimes when Joey arrived home from school, I would ask him to make me a large cup of Kool-Aid. I was too little to make it myself. I would patiently wait while I watched him put ice into the cup, then the Kool-Aid mix, and then the sugar and water. By then my mouth was watering. I always noticed he rarely made a cup for himself. Well, I realized why.
Right before he would hand me the cup of the cold, refreshing Kool-Aid, he would "test" it. He would gulp down at least half or more of the cup and leave me with a little bit. Of course, I would be upset at him. But now I look back and laugh.
Sleep easy Joe.
