Leland H. Yarbrough's Obituary
Leland Howard Yarbrough, 86, a long-time resident of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on April 15, 2015. Leland was a loving husband, father, (great) grandfather, carpenter, fisherman, an uncle, a cousin, a friend and a believer. He was born on February 5, 1929 in Roscoe, Texas to parents John and Molly Yarbrough. He was the 9th child, youngest son out of 10 siblings: 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
In December 1953, Leland met and married the love of his life, Velma. He spent his entire life in the construction field; 35+ years with his brothers at Yarbrough Brother's Construction of which the last 14 years he and Velma became the sole owners. He spent another 16 years with Habitat for Humanity where he finally retired at the age of 80. He loved his family, fishing and the Lord.
Leland is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma Yarbrough, his children Loretta Klecka (Michael), Stephen “Kerry” Yarbrough (Frances), Brenda Mohr (Duane) and Leah Steinle (Curtis), his 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, his brother Sewell Yarbrough, many nieces and nephews, loved ones, friends and his best friend, George Stroud.
A viewing will be held at Evergreen Mortuary Cemetery 3015 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705 on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:00 am, service will follow at 11:00 am.
Potluck to follow at the Yarbrough homestead. Maps will be available after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ Africa Building Fund. The purpose of this fund is to build churches and family dwellings devastated by floods in Malawi and Mozambique. Contributions may be mailed to the following address:
