Lynn Robert Schroeder's Obituary
Lynn Robert Schroeder, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. Lynn was born December 7, 1929 in Davenport, Iowa, and had made his home in Arizona for the last 60 years.
Lynn graduated from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Lynn served in the U.S. Navy and completed his Master’s Degree in Fine Art from the noted printmaking program at the University of Iowa. Lynn served as a Professor of Art and head of the printmaking program at the University of Arizona for 25 years, and with his family was a founding member of the artist community Rancho Linda Vista near Oracle, Arizona.
Lynn was a loving husband to his wife Artis and his four children, Hannah, Aaron, Amanda, and Ivy. Lynn was a devoted husband and partner to his second wife, the artist Sheila Pitt, and stepfather and friend to Sheila’s children Alan, Joshua, and Rachel.
A man of wide-ranging interests, Lynn read everything from ancient literature to modern poetry. As a boy Lynn was fond of the adventure books by Howard Pease, and he loved noir books by Raymond Chandler and James M. Cain. His favorite book, however, may have been the Dictionary. Lynn was likewise a passionate devotee of music and film.
Lynn Schroeder is survived by his children, Hannah Schroeder of Tucson, Aaron Schroeder of Tucson, Amanda Wilson (Ron) of Cape Coral, Florida, and Ivy Cooper (Matthew) of St. Louis, Missouri; by his grandchildren Caitlin and John Tyler Hughes of Florida, and Mary and Paul Cooper of St. Louis; by his “adopted” sons, Bill Yslas and Tino Jimenez of Tucson; and by his stepchildren Alan Pitt of Phoenix, Joshua Pitt of Tucson, and Rachel Pitt Rubenstein of Phoenix. Lynn is pre-deceased by his wife Sheila Pitt, his first wife Artis Thompson, as well as his siblings in the Schroeder family. He will be missed by countless friends, colleagues, and family members.
