Margaret Ross' Obituary
Margaret (Peggy) Ross died peacefully on September 4, 2014, at Pacifica Senior Living, in Tucson, Arizona.
Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, to the late Albert and Margaret Martin in 1925, she was the oldest of four children. After living in various locations in Canada and the United States, she settled happily in Tucson where she was a long-time resident.
Peggy attended Dalhousie University, Halifax. Until her retirement, she spent several years working with A. Delivan Ross and John Sandahl, affiliated with New York Life Insurance Company. During this time, she became a Certified Life Underwriter, the first woman in Southern Arizona to do so. Peggy enjoyed travel, gardening, reading, but especially liked spending time with her friends and family. She was a true lady and people always enjoyed her calm presence.
Peggy is survived by her children with her first husband Thomas Walthier: Marj (David Wolters), Anne (David Wickholm), Helen (Ron Shannon), and John (Marianne) Walthier; ten grandchildren, Jon, Marc, Rachel, Joy, Sharon, Heather, Amber, Matt, Nick, and Justin; her sisters Joan (Archie – deceased) Pickles and Marty (Art) Southcott, and brother Leonard (Heidi) Martin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Del Ross, and considered his family as her own – children Kip (Bill Detmer), Andy (Helga) Ross, and David (Terri) Ross, as well as their children and grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5150 North Valley View Road, Tucson, Arizona 85718; 520-577-8780. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Catholic Cemetery, 3535 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson; 520-888-0860.
