Michael Henry Wonner's Obituary
Michael Henry Wonner passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on August 24, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia L. Wonner, his two daughters, Tracy L. Lane (Mark) and Renee M. Castro (Mike); four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. All are so very dear to his heart.
Michael was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Sophie A. and Henry M. Wonner on June 12, 1942. He grew up in north Olmsted, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University, Ohio in 1964. He was then commissioned into the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lt. He served in many states and countries during his 26 ½ years of service. Colonel Michael H. Wonner retired in 1991. He retired in Bluewater Bay, FL and later moved to Green Valley, AZ in 2007.
Mike enjoyed the out of doors his entire life and depending on where he lived, he took advantage of the water, snow, and all terrain. He loved golf, trail riding in his Polaris, and traveling to new places. His hobbies were many, but in his last several years he really liked working with mesquite wood and equally enjoyed making toys for children’s hospitals.
God, country and family and friends were most important to him. Mike was always his happiest when he could make someone smile or laugh with him. He will long be remembered and forever loved by us.
In lieu of flowers, Mike would have liked any donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to wounded Warriors.
