I am Richard’s ( who was known as Ricky growing up ) first cousin and we grew up together in the same apartment building in Washington Heights . His Mom, Sylvia, and her two sisters all lived in the same building for many years with their husbands and children. I was always in awe of Richard’s intelligence and the gentle demeanor that he always projected at all times. We even went to camp together in the summer and he proved to be an excellent athlete. He was a caring son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was a remarkable caregiver to Susan through her illnesses over many years and it is so shocking that they died within a week of each other. It is as though they could not go on without the other. At the mere mention of his granddaughters a huge smile would come across his face and a twinkle would appear in his eyes. He will be missed by so many and remembered as a fine person who in his quiet way touched so many. I shall miss him. Nancy Chernack
