Robert Scott Weinhold's Obituary
Robert (Bob) S. Weinhold passed away on June 6, 2016, after a 25 year struggle with environmental illnesses. Bob was born in Ithaca, NY and grew up in Columbus Ohio where his mother Virginia and sister Amy Weinhold (Ric Shorr) still reside. His brother Tom Weinhold (Vera) also survives him. His father Herbert E Weinhold preceded him in death in 2003. Bob left Ohio after high school and moved west to go to college in Oregon. Bob’s chosen career was landscape architecture, which he pursued in Denver, Colorado until he became ill. He chose to realign his career, earned a second degree in journalism, and spent the rest of his life studying and writing on health and environmental topics. Bob was an excellent researcher and became an accomplished journalist, and was widely published. Bob spent many years living in Durango, CO, Santa Fe, NM, and Colorado City, Co before his last move to Tucson, AZ., where he succumbed to his long illness. Before his illness, Bob was very active outdoors; he skied cross country, fly fished, hiked, camped and traveled throughout much of the western United States. As his struggles continued, his ability to enjoy the outdoors was greatly impaired, but never lost. Bob will be missed by all who knew him for his quiet strength, his dry sense of humor and the courage he displayed throughout his long period of illness. In Bob’s memory, donations can be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, www.ccfa.org.
