She will be forever missed, the sweet matriarch of our family.
Sherry Pat was my older cousin, by 4yrs. However, our birthdays were 3 days apart & as children we celebrated them together. We came from a very close-knit family, our parents being sibling. Our Grandfather was a pharmacist, and our Great grandparents, the Wyatt’s, were land developers in West TX. Together in the 40s, Wyatt’s & Busby’s founded Busby Realtors, in Culver City, CA and all of us cousins’ parents, became Realtors & worked together during the 40s, 50s, 60s into the early 70s, therefore Sherry & her cousins spent much time at the real estate office, went to grammar school together, Sunday school together & our favorite place was our “Busby Bee-Hive Cabin” in Crestline, San Bernardino
Mountains, where we spent many weekends, Easter holidays, and summers, swinging from our giant rope swing, hanging from a big pine tree behind the cabin & swung a long distance over the hillside. We had a blast at our Cabin!
One of my earliest and fondest memories of my dear cousin SherryPat, were the days when I was so young and Sherry would walk me to school in the mornings. She would walk me right up to the front door of the first grade classroom and then walk down the corridor to her fifth grade class. Sherry would blow me a little kisses from her classroom doorway, before she walked into the door and always tell me to “have a happy day”. I was so little but it’s something I will never forget. I felt so proud that my older cousin would hold my hand to cross the streets and get me to my school safely. I loved her so much.
Within a few years our families ended up in Hawaii, where I have wonderful memories of Sherry & I,
Snorkeling, hiking up to the Manoa Waterfalls and swimming, Sailing on my father’s 40 foot beach Catamaran off Waikiki Beach, and adventuring to the outer Islands together and getting into mischief, of course. We shared a condo together in Hawaii Kai (Oahu) and would head over to Hanauma Bay, for a snorkel -swim several mornings a week before going to work.
Cousin Sherry Pat & I had many uncontrollable laughs together and shared a tight bond for 75 years until the day she passed.
Sherry was always kind, loving, patient and protective of her younger cousins, never raised her voice and never in her life did she ever say a curse word that I can remember 🤔 Sherry Pat was kind, genuine, thoughtful and giving throughout all the 75 years in which we were family.
I will miss her for the rest of my days, but I know one day we will be united again. Until then, my sweet cousin…
