In Loving Memory of Tomas Vera
Tomas Vera, age 87, of Tucson, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. He lived a long and meaningful life rooted in love, family, faith, and devotion.
Tomas was born on December 9, 1938, in Bayard, Morrill County, Nebraska, to his parents Manuel Vera and Margarita Reyes. He attended Scottsbluff Junior College, where he completed coursework that reflected his hardworking and determined spirit. In 1963, he moved to Tucson, Arizona with his wife and their two children, beginning a new chapter that would shape the foundation of his family’s life.
Tomas was married to the love of his life, Alifa Vera, until her passing in 1996. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised six children: Alifa Silvas (spouse Marko Silvas),
Tom Vera (spouse Kelly Vera), Donna Hays (spouse Robert Hays), Michael Vera, Andy Vera (spouse Darlene Vera), and Randy Vera (spouse Angie Vera).
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Monique Gutierrezz, Vanessa Altamirano, Marko Silvas, Presley Rincon, Manuel Vera, Ashley Hays, Alifa Hays, Bobby Hays, Adrianna Vera, Danielle Vera, Randy Vera Jr., Mark Vera, Brianna Vera Portillo, and Joseph Vera. He is also lovingly survived by his great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Tomas was a man of deep Catholic faith and a devoted member of Santa Monica Church, where he faithfully attended services every week. His faith guided his life, and he made sure his children were raised in the church, laying a strong spiritual foundation that continues to live on through his family today.
He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather who always provided for his family with strength and love. He had a deep passion for music, especially playing the guitar and singing filling rooms with warmth, laughter, and song. He found his greatest joy surrounded by his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will live on forever.
Though he is no longer with us, Tomas is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Alifa, watching over the family they built together with pride and love. His legacy of kindness, resilience, faith, and devotion will continue to guide those who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
